Yes, that's a huge ladybug. There's another one under the flap as well. This is a newer, improved version of the first ladybug bag I made with this valance. This time I lined the bag with quilted place mats so it is sturdy and holds its shape well.
The front flap is a smorgasbord of lime green, red gingham in two sizes as well as kelly green dots. I'm not sure what those are supposed to be? Maybe the ladybug's food? There are two thin satin black ribbons with white polka-dots sewn on the front of the bag for the zing factor.
Most of the material was donated by Connie in California and her daughter Rebecca. The sides and straps of the bag are a lime green chenille stripe. The insides are a lovely cherry and pink flower print of cotton.
The straps are quite unique because I used pieces of the valance that had waves and leaves. I also added a little strip of black satin ribbon to the strap that reads "I LOVE YOU!" The straps on this bag are 48" tied.
The cell pocket also is accented by the XOXO ribbon and is a tad shorter than usual.
Make it a ladybug Thanksgiving!
