My sister designed a bag a few weeks back, using this yummy plaid-houndstooth (The Fox and the Hound), which she found at a thrift store. When I saw my daughter modeling it with her jeans, I thought they looked so great together. So, this time around, I've incorporated the jeans right into the bag! My daughter is thankful that I didn't use her jeans, but found a great thrift store pair to carve up.A worn, but still serviceable pair of jeans make up the front, back, bottom and sides of this bag. All four pockets still work!
The flap and straps are made with a delicious wool plaid-houndstooth. It's likely a wool blend, as it's quite soft and not itchy to my sensitive skin.
The cell-pocket and flap accent are sewn from a rust coloured wool felt remnant that my Aunt gave my mom over 30 years ago.
The flap and straps are lined with a pair of my black, polyester dress pants which got ripped on a pew at Rachelle's wedding. I'm hoping she'll bid on this bag (if she wins, I'll pay for the shipping). The pants were extremely old, so I'm not bitter. And polyester never wears out and probably never decomposes - so we might as well re-purpose it!
OK, now for the inside of the bag. I love this retro orange and brown print; I found it at a thrift store. And the black pockets on the inside -- there's 5 of them -- bonus!
