A Wrinkle in Time

Click on any picture for a larger view.

Another bag reminiscent of the 70's - but I'm not going to attempt to keep up with Linda and her jive talkin'.

My interpretation of A Wrinkle in Time, is another look into the Murry's home decor. Featuring fabulous oranges, harvest gold, avocado green, and several shade of brown - a 70s decorator would be delighted.

The front flap is comprised of orange and green velvets (thrift store finds), avocado and tan corduroys (donations), and a heavy woven orange and gold upholstery piece from my friend Maria.

OK, I must take a break to talk about donations. They've kinda flooded in at an alarming rate. Sometimes they've changed hands a couple times before they've been handed to me. So, as much as I'd LOVE to keep track of who's given me what -- it just can't happened. If you see something that you donated - it would be so fun if you claimed credit in the comments.

Now, back to the front flap. It's all wrapped up with three charming vintage buttons. Yum yum.

The outside of the bag is a sturdy medium brown upholstery fabric from the famous donor, Mystery Pete. The side pocket is a snippit of tan, brown, and avocado green upholstery fabric (thank goodness for spell-check because I spell upholstery wrong EVERY TIME).

The back pockets are a dark avocado corduroy, trimmed with just a peak of some amazing 70s fabric that you'll see again on the inside of the bag (thank you Mary Ann M!).

The straps are a coffee brown fabric, which I'm almost to the end of, from my Grandmother's donation. The strap on the opposite side of the side pocket features a bit of the same upholstry fabric, to provide some balance. And the straps are lined with the same crazy orange floral that lines the bag.

Now for the inside. When I saw this crazy floral at the thrift store, I just couldn't leave it there. It's heavy duty - so between it and the outer brown upholstry fabric, this bag is sturdy enough for some extra books or a laptop. Oh yes, the inside. As if the thrift store floral craziness wasn't enough, the pocket is a coordinating donation of an equally crazy geometric pattern. And I just have to point out the adorable pile of treasures in the right of the picnic table picture. Acorns, sticks, lichen, and a piece of red Lego - must be my son's stash.

Bid on this bag by leaving your name and a bid in the comments section. Bidding starts at $25 and increases by whole $s please. Highest bidder at 8am (PDT) on Saturday, September 13th gets the BAG! Postage extra (from Abbotsford, BC). This bag was created by Jennie C.

I found that fabric and left it at the thrift store but my heart pined for it so I brought Jennie there and she bought it.

Jennie,

The bag is gorgeous. I just love the photography of the bag on the fence. It looks like it could be in a magazine. I love photography, so I had to comment on a great job you did in capturing those photos. It is so green in Canada. My grass is yellow right now...bummer.

Thanks for the kind words folks. And LaVonna -- about that fence - it's a crazy leaning mess, waiting for repairs, but it certainly does make for lovely photography.
