Danny [Lynn], the Champion of the World

Click on any picture for a larger view.

Danny, Champion of the World is a fabulous children's book about poaching pheasants. I was skeptical heading into this book, as poaching is illegal, but it just turns out so amazing that my kids and I loved it and I'd highly recommend it. OK, that's the end of the book review. But the whole pheasant bit explains why this bag has such a crazy name.

My friend Jenn V. created this bag by combining fabrics from my stash with her own thrift store finds.

The amazing feature piece is a thrift store find, featuring pheasant-like birds, pineapples, florals and greenery in salmon, green, brown, taupe and dusty blue. And Jenn's even stitched some seed beads here and there to accent the flowers.

The main body and straps are sewn from a super soft corduroy-like sage green fabric donation. The side cell pocket is a brown denim remnant from a pair of jeans I made my son. The roomy back pockets are made from a greenish-brown velvety upholstery sample.

The flap and straps are lined with an ivory diamond-textured fabric that once hung from Jenn's curtain rods. The texture doesn't show up in the photos. (I just uploaded a closeup.)

The interior of the bag, sewn from more of the pheasant fabric, features two pockets.

And this bag is STURDY. Getting through all those layers cost Jenn at least 4 needles - yikes!

Bid on this bag by leaving your name and a bid in the comments section. Bidding starts at $25 and increases by whole $s please. Highest bidder at 8am (PDT) on Saturday, August 16th gets the BAG! Postage extra (from Abbotsford, BC). This bag was created by Jenn V.

Hi Kristy - I'm pretty sure Lisa T. was saying that she bids $25 - she just didn't say the number.
