All Through the Night (a terrific book!) is the name of my new bag. It is constructed from fabulous fabrics donated by my friend Cheryl, who was given some fabric samples which she passed on to me. I am in fabric HEAVEN! There are gorgeous silks from India and all kinds of colors and textured fabrics from Belgium, France and the U.K. They range in price from $59. to $125 per yd. What a blessing to help bring Zaza home. Can you imagine sewing material that is over $100 per yard?

The fabric front and back is called "Fushion" and is vicose and cotton with a lovely soft pile from Beligium. I made it with one piece of material and so the nap changes the color from back to front. It has shades of brown, tan and smokey blue. I used brown velvet upholstery material for the sides and top. The braided trim across front and back matches the brown tones.

I enjoyed designing this tote that measures 12x10x2 – smaller than usual. For a change I used black wooden handles and the bag closes with a magnetic clasp.

The lining is sewn from a beautiful orange SILK from India. There are two pockets inside, one for cell phone or glasses and the other is larger for additional storage. I used a rust striped fabric and silk for the pockets and trimmed them with brown braid. The sides are brown cotton.

LaVonna: First of all I love all the comments you make on Linda's blog. I saw the bags you made awhile back and they were terrific. You ought to have seen me struggle putting the handles on this bag - first the fabric was too thick for the machine etc. etc. Thanks for your comments! Love, Grace

Jen, do you know off hand what the shipping is to Abbotsford from this location? Thanks.

Grace, Thank you. I love to sew. I've been doing it since 7th grade. One of the few things that I learned in school that has stood the test of time. :) Those handles do look sturdy. We all should buy stock in sewing needles or find an industrial sewing machine.
