Fireside Christmas

Click on any picture for a larger view.

Fireside Christmas is a large tote bag just perfect for carrying those last minute gifts or numerous other goodies. It is made with beautiful Waverly decorator fabrics. The colors are red, green and gold, just right for the holidays and throughout the year. A big THANKS to my friend, Cheryl, who donated them.

I used fusible lining on the inside and outside pieces for a sturdy bag. The print fabric is called “Sunset Boulevard” and has Rodeo Drive and other famous spots named on it. Cheryl also donated the matching braid that divides the striped and print fabrics.

I put a pocket on the front for your fancy sunglasses made of woven chenille with striped trim and I jazzed it up with sparkly beads.

I used the stripes cut diagonally for the front of the straps and a dark red leaf patterned fabric for the back.

It has a magnetic closure in the top center. The large inside pocket divides in three. The flowered embossed cotton is so cheery and I used gold trim for the top where the pocket opens up. On the other side of the lining there is a cell phone pocket made of a rich chenille fabric sample, topped in red.

The bag measures 13 ½ along the top, 18 along the bottom and is 15 ½ inches tall with the straps being 28 ½. The sides are 4 inches.

Bid on this bag by leaving your name and a bid in the comments section. Bidding starts at $25 and increases by whole $s please. Highest bidder at 9pm (PST) / 10pm (MST) on Saturday, December 6th gets the BAG! Postage extra (from Phoenix, AZ). This bag was created by Grace.

Just thought it would be fun to let you Canadian girls know that I was born in Vancouver, so I'm a Canadian girl too! Thanks for your bids. Love, Grandma Grace

To Miriam W. -- I enjoyed your comment about how you ended up in Calgary. I miss the snowcapped mountains in Vancouver, Stanley Park, where I learned how to swim and friends and relatives. I am, however, enjoying sunny Arizona and being with my family here. Hope you enjoy the bag. Love, Grace

Grace, I posted a notice on the website this morning but I thought I'd post something on this entry as well. The bag is GORGEOUS!!!!! My husband loved it too so now I have to watch the site for more bags for my stepdaughters, his mother, etc. The workmanship is exquisite and the colours are all my favourites. The photos just didn't do it justice!!

You're a talented seamstress, Grace. Thanks again!

P.S. Coincidence maybe - my middle name happens to be Grace ...

To Miriam: Thanks for your comments! It was just what I needed to get going again. I'm so glad you liked the bag. It really is hard getting the photos to show the bags to their advantage. My Granddaughter has Grace for her middle name too. The name has become popular after many years of not hearing it very often. Grace
