~~

I actually spent more than a day on The Day's Work, but this bag will be a hard worker, so I felt the name was appropriate.

This fabulous wine coloured, wool-blend boucle started it's life as a lady's overcoat. I couldn't resist this thrift store find's $1 price tag. After a good washing (dry-clean only? i think not!) and a lot of snipping and stitching - it was reborn!

The front flap of this bag is a plaid houndstooth remnant discovered at another thrift store. It is black and white, with bits of red and tan.

The berry and tan flower adorning the flap is pinned on and can be moved, removed or worn on your jacket. The yarn for the pin came from Cousin Dawn's stash, which I was recently bequeathed. Thank you Dawn!

The outside of the bag features a back double pocket and a side cell pocket. The flap, straps and pockets are lined with a coordinating tan and wine floral cotton upholstery remnant.

This bag is very sturdy. I wouldn't hesitate to throw a textbook or even a laptop into this bag.

The Day's Work is lined with the coat's original lining, a gorgeous wine coloured satin. The inside double pocket (as well as the outside pocket and flower) is secured with a button from the original coat.

And just for fun - here's some pics of The Day's Work in progress.
