The Books (for the auditors)

Oct-31-2008 - $4066.70
In October, we received $671, with $8.61 going towards October's expenses.

Sep-30-2008 - $3404.31

We've pulled in another $428, with only $23.69 going towards September's expenses. So - 94% of your purchase price has been going toward's Zaza's adoption!

Aug-31-2008 - $3000
Since this is a fund raiser, I like to be super accountable about monies raised. I mentioned before that there would be some changes coming for BFZ and how the finances work will be one of them. Up until now, we've donated 100% of the purchase price of each bag towards Zaza's adoption. We're mostly family and it was our way of giving. But now that we're at $3000 (thank you everyone), our personal expenses have been adding up and we will now begin deducting them from the purchase price. I don't anticipate this amounting to more than a few dollars a bag, as we primarily use donated materials and thrift store finds. Some examples of expenses might be: thread, needles, thrift-store purchases, and PayPal's percentage. At least once a month I'll update you with expenses and income in this post for those interested in how we're doing.

As for what our new goal is - I just don't know. For now, we've still got a ways to go before all of Zaza's adoption expenses are covered. And then -- maybe we need to bring someone else's Zaza home? We're just going to keep going ... until we stop.

... one more sleep until new bags!

Auction Closed: La Dee Da

OK, this has nothing to do with Bags for Zaza, but I guess I can do what I want with my own blog. And what I want to do right now is show off this adorable skirt I just made for my daughter out of two thrift store t-shirts. It has exposed seems and raw edges. So easy!

Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming. This week's bag biddies are:
Bag Biddies, please email BagsforZaza@gmail.com to arrange payment and postage/pickup.

THANK YOU and THANK YOU again and please come back Tuesday for more bags!

P.S. We've raised over $3400 so far! Click here for details.

Auction Closed: Flurries

OK, there aren't any flurries in the sky (at least not in my neck of the woods - thank goodness), but there was certainly a flurry of last minute bidding here at BFZ. Thank you all so much. The comments and bidding certainly give us an idea of what's popular, although we never recreate the exact same bag again. But we aim to please!

This week's Bag Biddies are:
Please email BagsforZaza@gmail.com to arrange payment and postage/pickup.

Thank you again and please come back Tuesday (or if you're lucky - Monday night) for more bags!

I've recently created that How to Bid post I promised awhile back, so if you're stumped - please check it out.

Start Thinking About Christmas!

Our bags make great gifts; there's nothing more original - so why don't you have a look at your Christmas list and start thinking about who would love a bag from Bags for Zaza.

In an effort to balance our lives, we're scaling back a tad and may not always post as many bags as we have in the past. There's dozens of ideas swimming around in our heads and an amazing amount of donations to inspire us, but only so many hours in the day to put it all together.

This we have four bags for you:
  • The Parade to Paradise
  • Fanny Crosby
  • A Wrinkle in Time
  • The Mitford Snowman
Bid on a bag by leaving a name and a bid in the comments section for the bag you want. Or just comment and tell us what you think. Bidding starts at $25 and increases by whole $s. The highest bidder at 8am (PDT) on Saturday, September 13th gets the bag!

Sleeping In

Oh, I had a lovely sleep. And just woke up. Sorry y'all. I'm sure you've figured out who gets which bag for how much, but just to make it official...
Please email BagsforZaza@gmail.com to arrange payment and postage/pickup.

Tomorrow I'll be showing off some folks with their bags, so come have a look at how cute we are. And please send me pictures of you with your BFZ bag!

And come back Monday for our new batch of bags!

New Look - New Bags

Thank you all for your patience while I did a little vacationing. Without further ado, I bring you:
  • The Carousel
  • Farm Noises
  • I Touch
  • The Cat of Bubastes
  • Kisses
Bid on a bag by leaving a name and a bid in the comments section for the bag you want. Or just comment and tell us what you think. Bidding starts at $25 and increases by whole $s. The highest bidder at 8am (PDT) on Saturday, September 6th gets the bag!

The Carousel

Click on any picture for a larger view.

The Carousel is a bag consisting of rich brown decorator fabric and trim. You’ll recognize the brown polka dot fabric from Linda’s last bag, gracing the front pocket. We share and Share alike!

The pocket is trimmed with plaid and topped by a cool vintage button from an old coat. The under flap ties in the plaid and velvet materials.

The inside is fun and feminine with brown fabric covered in white daisies, brown striped corduroy and a pocket following the flower theme. I topped the pocket with white vintage daisy buttons. I enjoyed mixing and matching the fabrics on the cell pocket, straps and front flap.

The fringe and trim make a dramatic touch on the bag, adding to its warm winter look.

Bid on this bag by leaving your name and a bid in the comments section. Bidding starts at $25 and increases by whole $s please. Highest bidder at 8am (PDT) on Saturday, September 6th gets the BAG! Postage extra (from Phoenix, AZ). This bag was created by Grace.

A Long One

OK, this will be a longer post, so bear with me...

First things first, this week's bag biddies (winning bidders):
Please email BagsforZaza@gmail.com to arrange payment and postage/pickup.

Thank you SO much - it has been such an exciting week here at BFZ. I was really hoping to reach our goal of $3000. We didn't quite get there, but we're only short by $30!!!

Since I haven't heard from the anonymous person who bid on the reversible Junie B. Jones bag, I'm willing to sell the bag for $30 to the first person to email me at BagsForZaza@gmail.com (plus postage from Abbotsford, BC). Ready, set, go!
Sold to Mandolin Mom - thank you so much!

And now for the happy-for-me, but sad-for-you news that BFZ will be on vacation for one week. But we'll be back on September 1st with a brand new batch of bags, some new goals, and a few other little changes.

If you would like an email reminder when new bags are posted and little BFZ updates, please join the Facebook Group or send an email to me with the subject of "subscribe".

With LUV overflowing from my heart,
Jennie C.

A New Crop of Kids

By some happy accident, this week's batch of bags all ended up having people names: Junie, Pudd'nhead, Caddie, and Danny Lynn. I didn't realize this until I sat down to post them. There's only four bags and we were going to finish up another one and post it later, but the way the names came together led me to decide to save that last bag for next week and just go with these four siblings.

Bid on a bag by leaving your name and a bid in the comments section for the bag. Bidding starts at $25 and increases by whole $s. The highest bidder at 8am (PDT) on Saturday, August 16th gets the bag!

Up for adoption to loving homes we have:
  • Junie B. Jones is (almost) a Flower Girl
  • Pudd'nhead Wilson
  • Caddie Woodlawn
  • Danny [Lynn], the Champion of the World
-
And if you missed yesterday's post, have a read and let us know - "What's in your bag?"
