Adoption News of a Different Sort

I promised a newsy post on Sunday and here it is. I know, you'd all rather just see the new bags ~ but you'll have to wait until tomorrow for those.

My little bit of news is regarding the adoption process going on right here in my own home. Zaza's adoption is what this fund raising is all about, but my hubby and I are also adopting.

Yesterday was the 7th anniversary of the day our 3 foster children moved into our home! We celebrated with brownie sundaes covered in Smarties and Score bits.

It all started when we we received a phone call from a friend of a friend who wanted to chat with us. It turned out to be a little more than a chat, as he introduced us to the story of a sibling group of foster children that needed a forever home. We'd never been foster parents, nor were we exploring adoption at that time, but 2 weeks later they moved in. It's been quite a ride and there's so many cool and crazy details that have confirmed to us that our Creator was the one who put these children in our home; however, the fact that they're still foster children means that I need to be careful to respect their privacy.

We knew from the beginning that these children were in their forever home, but the adoption process has had some ups and downs and delays and round abouts and and and it's just gone on for a long time. We finally started our homestudy this month and are starting to see light at the end of the tunnel.

With our own batch of adoptees and with my hubby having 4 adopted siblings - you can see why adoption is close to my heart and why I'm so excited to be a part of bring Zaza home.

See y'all back here tomorrow with a new batch of bags!

I love adoption also! Have I said this before? I wasn't exposed to this growing up. I once pretended I was adopted, but I look EXACTLY like my mother, so I didn't pull that one off. BUT, when I was married, 1 brother had fertility issues and 1 brother had a heart for kids in need. So, our family has been blessed with 1/2 of my parents' grandkids being adopted. There are 2 girls from China, 1 boy from Haiti and 1 boy locally. I really don't even consider them adopted until I discuss it like this. They are our family. I am also always drawn to the Bible verse that says we are all adopted sons & daughters. So, we're all in the same boat. I'm so sorry I missed the bidding last week. I really had my eye on the pink/black bag (like my green one!!!), but I was flying to NYC with my sweet family for a quick 3-day vacation. My daughter & I got to see Wicked!! Anyway, I've got my eye on at least one bag this week and would still love to have a pattern if you've figured one out. You ladies do amazing work!

Wow, what an amazing thing you are doing. A friend of mine sent your blog to me as I too am adopting, it is always amazing to hear what others are doing and going through.
The process is so challenging and one of the things that gets us through is support of good friends and family.
I wsh you all the best in your endeavour and with the adoption process. Wish I had thought of that! I am going to be broke by the time I pay the $30K for my adoption process...but I am sure it will be worth it. I just signed off on my dossier... 7 months after starting the process...
Take care and god bless.
