Grace for the Moment

Click on any picture for a larger view.

Grace for the Moment is a very apt name for my first bag as I fill in for Linda while she's at camp.

This bag has beautiful decorator fabrics: two-toned brown houndstooth check, tan wool, chocolate embroidered velvet, deep brown and green chenille, yummy lime green nubby fabric (which is a brighter green than the pictures show), cocoa cashmere wool purchased in the 70's in a ritzy Vancouver fabric boutique - my first splurge on fabric - that I kept all these years... for THIS bag. The straps (measuring 38"), bottom and sides are constructed of medium brown textured check with chenille dots.

When it came to the lining, I remembered cute capris (that the drier shrunk!) in light green with embroidered daisies - perfect! There are three pockets inside.

The many decorative pieces are happy accidents with my measuring. Happiness was finding the divine green and brown button in my button box to top off the exterior pockets.

The flap features several lush fabric swatches accented by braided fringed trim. The cell phone pocket has saucy lime fringe.

My next bag will be much easier and less time consuming with less needle breakage - but this has been fun.

Happy Bidding,
Grandma Grace

I have been waiting for Grace's first bag and she chose a book I gave her! We have been friends for over thirty years and I love the family, dearly. Not only would I love the bag-I would love to help bring a precious little girl into Linda and Rick's home knowing she would be blessed the rest of her life by their love.$150

I won a bag last week, but this one seriously tempted me to bid again!

Auntie Grace, seems like you may need to make another similar to this, one to fit a 12 year old's budget...hopefully you have another lime green and brown button in that jar!

Well I love this bag too but will not compete with a friend who has been waiting for a bag from Grace. I will wait in anticipation for the next one also. Love the colors and the book too. Blessings for the sewing crew and Prayers for Zaza too. LOve Coral

Great job, Miss Grace. I could have picked this one out as your handiwork even if your name wasn't on there. It is as sophisticated as you are....

Thanks so much to my generous friend, Lynnette. The book you gave me was perfect.

Thank you to everyone for their kind and wonderful comments.

Jillybean, there's a cowgirl bag coming next week just for you.

Connie, I will be making a similar bag to this one, but sadly this was the last lime green button in the box.
